Description

**The Capital Journey: What Really Makes Businesses Fundable**

Capital Quest addresses a critical gap in the Cayman Islands entrepreneurial ecosystem by preparing SMEs to effectively engage both debt and equity capital sources. This programme demystifies what lenders and investors look for in fundable businesses, framing capital access as strategic preparation rather than luck.

**Programme Structure**

Capital Quest consists of 6 self-paced modules delivered through micro-lessons (~5 minutes each) on the CICBD E-Learning Platform, supported by ongoing mentorship:

| Module | Title | Focus |
|--------|-------|-------|
| 1 | Understanding Your Capital Options | Evaluate whether debt, equity, or hybrid capital aligns with your growth goals and current stage |
| 2 | Market Validation | Validate market assumptions and demonstrate genuine customer demand |
| 3 | Business Models | Evaluate whether your business model demonstrates fundability |
| 4 | Financial Modelling for Capital Readiness | Build credible financial projections for lenders or investors |
| 5 | Legal, Governance & Deal Structures | Establish governance frameworks that protect founder vision while demonstrating accountability |
| 6 | Pitch Mastery for Mixed Audiences | Deliver compelling capital pitches to both lenders and investors |

**Dual-Path Learning**

Capital Quest incorporates differentiated content where your capital type determines your approach. While core concepts apply universally, modules addressing financial modelling and pitch strategy include tailored pathways for:

- **Debt-seekers** — Established businesses pursuing bank loans (including CNB's new SME initiative)
- **Equity-seekers** — Startups and growth-stage businesses engaging angel investors

**What You Will Achieve**

By completing Capital Quest, you will:

- Understand the full capital landscape and identify which funding type matches your business stage
- Validate your market opportunity with evidence funders require
- Build a business model that demonstrates clear fundability
- Create credible financial projections (unit economics, revenue forecasting, debt servicing or investor returns)
- Establish proper legal and governance structures
- Deliver a confident, compelling pitch to mixed audiences at the Raising Capital Forum
